What’s a Biker? What’s a Brother?

By James “Topfuel”Macecari

“We know what we are, but know not what we may be. ”
William Shakespeare

This quote by Shakespeare has to say it all, many in the biker world throw around the word “Brotherhood” or “Brother” like it’s just another word, my suspicion is most don’t have a clue what any of those words means or stand for. Today in this lifestyle, you have more posers and wannabees then true hardcore individuals, no you don’t have to ride in a club to be a true biker, you have to know what integrity and honor mean to come close. I don’t know if it’s just me or if it’s society and the type of people it’s producing, most have to agree that people now are nowhere near the integrity that was produced in the old days.

So what is the meaning according to me? What is a biker? Well the biggest thing that comes to mind for me is hard work. A person has to get their ass out of bed in the morning, get to work and be productive, all these kids or young adults, they will be 30 years old and still live at home with mommy and daddy, what kind of shit is that? I myself was out on the street playing the game at 16, out of the folks house at 18, one thing I knew is I had to work my ass off for everything I had, let me tell ya, it wasn’t much either. A biker never sits there looking for handouts, they go out there every day working for what they got, they sure the hell don’t depend on someone doing it for them.

Another quality I look for is Integrity. Integrity is something that doesn’t exist anymore, shit most people don’t know how to stand behind anything they say, always about running the game and hustle. What irritates me even more is hearing this kind of people using the word “Brother”, especially if I know the idiots and what they are about. The word brother really doesn’t mean much to me anymore, I know a lot of others that can say the same thing when you have a bunch of people who have no understanding of the word and meaning, let’s face it, the word gets watered down over time and meaningless.

It has gotten so bad even in the club scene that “Brotherhood” hold very little meaning. I have to blame the clubs on this one, clubs have worried about numbers since the early 90’s instead of the quality of individual coming into the ranks. Take a look around next time you’re at an event, look at some of the individuals in some of these clubs, you will start to awaken to the fact that most are a joke, only a number to boost ranks and that badass image. Deep down I can bet you a million dollars, the club you are looking at is in turmoil, nothing but drama and backbiting. That you all is not “Brotherhood”.

Blood, Sweat, Tears. Always remember those 3 words, those are the only way you can call anyone “Brother”, you’ve had to share all three over an expanded period of time, that’s the only true way of honoring that word and the relationship it holds. The word “Brother” should embody all the emotions of the human spirit, it should define you as a person, you should be honored to have that word used in the same sentence as your name, this type of emotion is what’s missing from the current “Biker World”.

Ask yourself, what is the draw to our Lifestyle in the first place? Yes, I know, the wind and freedom bullshit. But what is really the draw to the Lifestyle? Why does everyone want to be a part of it now when in the old days it was Taboo? It’s something so simple to answer if you really look at it, people want to experience what it is like to have honor, integrity, they want to be noticed by the public as someone who holds onto something in life and fights for it. That’s what the old timers did in the day when being a biker wasn’t cool, people saw how these men stood up for what they believed in and gave society the big “Fuck You” while doing it. People have a tendency to want to copy those who put in the work of achieving something, that is why people are drawn to the biker lifestyle, they feel like this lifestyle will make them into something they cannot be all the time That’s the mentality of the weekend warrior, that’s the motivation behind everything they do.

I’ve always said that you are “A Man before anything else”. Do you have to be the biggest badass? Do you have to act like something you’re not? No, you just have to be yourself, don’t copy someone else because of an image, make the image you, tailor it to what you think it should be, most important have integrity with your word, have truth when you speak no matter the costs. Get up every day and work your ass off and achieve something that day, do it for yourself and no one else. The same goes for riding and being a biker, do it for yourself and no one else, be you. Don’t be something because that is what society thinks a biker should be, if that’s the only reason you are doing it for then know always, you will be a fake, wannabe and someone who deserves no respect at all.

Motorcycle Club Education- What to know

By James “Topfuel”Macecari

I decided to write this article on Motorcycle Club Education after seeing some people confused on the Internet about some of the stuff that goes on, especially with these Iron Order “Faggots” acting stupid all the time. Motorcycle Clubs is an American tradition, it also happens to be the largest export America has given to the rest of the world, in regards to a lifestyle choice. Some of our biggest domestic clubs have taken over worldwide, outpacing even a countries local club scene. American clubs like the Hells Angels, Outlaws, Bandidos, Mongols all have a big presence in countries like Australia, Britain, Germany, and so many more.

Many people got into the biker lifestyle because of the allure of being a Rebel, the allure of the freedom from societies bullshit, motorcycle clubs embody those two freedoms, most of all, they bring together like-minded individuals who live and breathe nothing but the lifestyle.

The motorcycle club took on an aura unto itself, almost mystic after Hollister. People from all walks of life wanted to be a part of the bad boy image, brothers from all over the country started forming “Brotherhoods”. Brotherhoods united with the single purpose of riding and partying, being there for those in your club, having an extended family. Motorcycle Clubs became the only family some people ever had, clubs showed people what love was for the first time in someone’s life.

Many, including myself, were always a part of the street. Early on growing up in the City of Chicago, a street gang was all we had as kids. Chicago as it is today, was always divided amongst racial lines. I was fortunate as a white boy to grow up in a mostly latino area, the culture I received from friends and their families was unreal. The place where I grew up was a terribly poor place, everyone relied on everyone in the neighbourhood to make it, those years growing up in a gang prepped me for my venture into the Outlaw Biker Lifestyle.

What many New Jacks, RUBS, don’t understand about the motorcycle club lifestyle is many that make up the club membership come from the streets. The motorcycle club was just the grown up version of where everyone came from in the first place. This is why Loyalty, Honor, and integrity means everything, that’s what everyone knew. Brothers mean everything to that person wearing a patch because they went through the same circumstances in life. When someone who is a member of a real motorcycle club, sees a mail order club like Iron Order, you can bet your ass they will get upset. Why? Because most people in a club, put all their efforts and every ounce of who they are into protecting their traditions and brotherhood. To have cops inside a club, cops who harass those with a patch every chance they get is just fucked up.

Let’s get into some of the educational points of the article. Below is the questions I see the most.

1. How do I approach a club or club member at a rally or other public event?

What I would suggest is go up to their support booth, most clubs have them at gatherings. Clubs make a lot of their money selling the supporting merchandise, you will always have members hanging around the booth. The support table gives you as a civilian, a first chance to have a conversation with some of the club guys. One question I would avoid, How do you join? That question isn’t the brightest of ideas, especially since no one knows you. I would suggest asking if the club has any public functions coming up you could attend to help support the club.

2. I was in a bar, I tried talking to a club guy, but he wouldn’t give me the time of day, why?

This is something that you need to know is common. Shit, I won’t talk to you if I don’t know you, not even to give help with directions. The last thing a club guy will do is talk to someone he don’t know. Don’t take offense by it, most clubs have a lot of politics, just something it is.

3. Why are the women wearing that bullshit “Property Patch”?

Well, that bullshit “Property Patch” should be a very in your face warning. You mess with that ol lady with that patch, you’re not only dealing with the ol man, you’re dealing with the club. That patch is not worn to degrade anyone, it serves as a warning. I actually know women who would do anything to get that patch. Once you understand what it means to women, you’re all over it trying to get it.

4. It’s America, why do I have to ask the main 1% club if I want to start a club?

What many do not realize, a motorcycle club in a particular area is always under intense scrutiny by that very government you invoke. You cannot go to a party at a 1% club house or any of its affiliates without seeing them out there taking pictures of you, or taking down your license plates. Yes, they will walk right up to your scooter and write your license plate down. In turn, you are now a known associate of that club, even if it’s your first time in that clubhouse. So know that has happened anything you do on the outside will reflect on that club. The Feds love using RICO all the time, they will try and blame what you do as a bigger conspiracy the club is supposedly doing. The other big thing is 1%er clubs don’t want idiots, such as the Iron Order running around town causing trouble. Citizens will automatically blame the 1%er club even though they were nowhere around. These are the main reasons, besides those 1%ers built up their area and deserve the respect from those trying to come into the fold. Besides, doing it the right way opens up a huge opportunity for your club to be involved in parties and other events.

1percent.patch

5. Why shouldn’t I touch a club members patch?

The patch a club member wears is as valuable as his bike. That club member went through hell to get it, it’s not just some piece of cloth. Everything he is a part of is symbolized in that patch, his blood, sweat and tears went into getting it, just like it has with the bike. If you’re not a brother, you have no rights to touch something that is so honored. You didn’t put in the work, time, and effort, plain and simple.

These are just some basic questions and answers, there is so much more that can be said on the subject of motorcycle clubs. There is a site that does have some good basic information that will help you understand more. http://www.rcvsmc.net that site has been around forever, it gives a pretty good overview of the differences in the patches, riding club versus motorcycle club, politics of the motorcycle world and other stuff. If you’re a New Jack, it’s something you should really take a look at, it might actually save you some embarrassment or even an ass whooping.

Waco PD Caused Deadly Fight in hopes of RICO Charges

By: James “Topfuel”Macecari

“The bikers believe this provides a clue to the Waco P.D.’s ongoing silence: The cops know their response was overzealous, possibly unlawful, and now they’re covering it up. Some bikers believe there’s an even more sinister explanation: that a firefight of some kind was supposed to happen—that it was all part of a plan by the Waco P.D. to provoke bitter rivals into a public brawl that could be violently crushed and then used as a basis for sweeping RICO indictments.” (Source GQ)

The fight that broke out between the Cossacks & Bandidos last May is now being described by mainstream media as an organized police hit job. Reports are that the Waco PD and other law enforcement agencies were already in mass before the Confederation of Clubs meeting got started. It is now believed that the police intentionally started the fight in hopes of a massive RICO case against both clubs.

Both clubs were unaware of who fired the first shots and now believe that officers on scene were first to fire causing massive confusion. Of all the bikers killed that day all were killed by Police bullets. No one died as a result of the two clubs fighting after hearing the first shots ring out. This was a hit job by the Waco PD. It was intentional and rivals only the the Branch Compound the ATF stormed in which Men,Women and Children were killed by the government.

Police Departments all over the country have gotten out of hand. Their taste for power is putting them onto the same plane as Hitlers SS troops. If these police can stage such a event in Waco, don’t think for a minute it cannot happen in your neck of the woods. We seen in Waco a massive detention of innocent people, most of whom were held on million dollar bonds. Phone calls now being release show police holding or staging Ambulances during the whole event and refusing to come to the aid of those who needed help. These enforcement officials were hoping for a body count so they could use it to forge a trumped up case against innocent people.

“By his final press conference, Swanton seemed to be struggling to defend his early characterizations of the clubs. A reporter asked, “Can you please respond to criticism…that not all 170 [jailed bikers] are criminals, that a lot of [them] are totally innocent and had nothing to do with the shooting?” “No, I can’t respond to that,” Swanton shot back, then hastily moved on. For a while, Swanton continued posting press releases about the shootings on the Waco P.D.’s Facebook page, but all of them have since been deleted.” (Source GQ)

From the video above you can tell that the shots and ruckus came from outside. If the Bandidos and Cossacks were going at it like police claim, you think all patch holders would be involved and not just sitting around. Once the video was released by mainstream media and the questions started arising about the incident the cops went quiet. The cops could not even answer basic questions on why so many people were detained. Some of those detained were active and former military members who were just there for the COC meeting.

The police got Karma shoved right up their ass when this video was made public. It proves that no hostilities existed until the shots were fired. Fired from some new jack cop under the orders of his superiors I’m betting. If we as a society don’t keep public officials in check then we are going to have more incidents like this. We are going to see cops firing at people and killing them because they want the god complex. This is America and unless we as Americans stand up to Rogue Agencies like this, the rights that many have fought and died for will be for nothing.

Rogue Goverment Vs Outlaws Mc

Today let’s look into just how bad the Police Departments around the country are getting. The Outlaws MC in Illinois are fighting to get vests back that belong to the club after a fight that broke out in a local bar. Now mind you that the property is the clubs and not that of any individual. The Government is claiming that the patches are gang related and push gang activity and should not be giving back. Mind you the Lizard Lounge is in unincorporated Wonder Lake. Why does that sound so familiar? It happens to be where that jagoff cop committed suicide and had everyone in the area looking for 3 armed men. The same officer and wife is accused of stealing thousands from a youth program. This is who Wonder Lake has working for them.

Kyle Mandernack- Mchenry County Deputy told a judge recently and I quote “The vests are directly related to facilitate street gang-related crime.” I proudly present dipshit.

0947873

Now the Outlaws MC have the Constitution and case law on their side .The United States Supreme Court, in a case called Roberts v. United States, had already laid down the general ground rules about which symbols are legal: “An individual’s freedom to speak, to worship, and to petition the government for the redress of grievances could not be vigorously protected from interference by the State unless a correlative freedom to engage in group effort toward those ends were not also guaranteed. According protection to collective effort on behalf of shared goals is especially important in preserving political and cultural diversity and in shielding dissident expression from suppression by the majority. Consequently, we have long understood as implicit in the right to engage in activities protected by the First Amendment a corresponding right to associate with others in pursuit of a wide variety of political, social, economic, educational, religious, and cultural ends.” (Source the Aging Rebel)

This government is moving towards a Australia type of law. In Oz they have made it almost impossible to wear colors or express your basic human right of association. Brothers or in Oz get constant harassment from the police, police are able to use this law on anyone who is wearing a patch. A person is even barred from owning a tattoo shop if your friends with anyone in a club. This is what the cops here in the states want. It’s not enough they have the god complex, they want it all. Total control over the citizens of this country. Cops have the politicians in the back pocket. The poor me bullshit of risking their lives on a daily basis argument gets them alot.

The government is in the process of trying to use copyright laws and more to take the Mongols patch away. So where is the outcry? This is basic first Amendment rights being targeted and the general population is content to let it happen. This government is going to any lengths to control the population. Time to wake up people and see exactly what those people in office are trying to do.

The Outlaws Motorcycle Club appealed and Rabb told the Second District Appellate Court in Elgin, Illinois that the confiscation was a Constitutional issue. He said, “Wearing the vest in and of itself is not a crime,”

When the judges asked Assistant State’s Attorney Jana Blake Dickson why the state wanted to keep the patches, she replied, “I imagine getting the patches off the street” would make “it harder to use (them) as a threat.” (Source Aging Rebel)

The argument the ASA made on why the government should keep the vests is an outright joke. It’s like saying if I’m wearing a Triumph Patch and the ASA and cops dont like Triumphs it should be banned because it causes too much friction with Harley Riders and it should be outlawed so they prevent any violence. Come on you dumb idiots at least make a reasonable argument.

This is the kind of government we have now. People just sit back and go about their lives and never question them. They wonder why things get so bad down the road. If you don’t hold your reps accountable then you deserve everything you get. Hopefully the Outlaws will win this case. If they don’t it will be used by every cop department to finally get the OZ law they have been dreaming about.

Growing up 1%-A Sons account Part 1 of 3

Many of us grew up during a time when stuff was pretty dam hard. I grew up with 3 brothers in Chicago. Mother worked two jobs most of her life and my Father who would have a huge impression worked in a steel mill. Times were tough, we lived in a cock roach invested 3 bedroom apartment on the Northside of Chicago in a mostly Latino neighborhood. My pops moved to Chicago when he was 14 from Oceana West Virginia. He lived a hard and screwed up life. His father,my grandfather was an old school coal miner and the meanest drunk West Virginia ever seen. I can remember being told a story about my grandfather. One day he got on one of his drunking rages and beat my grandmother up. The cops were called to the house, my grandfather was waiting for the sheriff on top of a hill. Everyone knew each other back then since the town was so small. He said ” Listen up Mike, I have one bullet in this revolver for you and one for me. Make your choice”. Lets just say the sheriff let the situation cool off. Dam Grandfather was so mean the town showed up to the funeral to make sure he was dead.

I now know those days for my father haunted him. He was also a drunk. A mean one at that. He would give us a beating for just about anything. One of the biggest mistakes that we could make as boys was for him to catch us crying or loosing a fight. I remember one time the school called. Told him I’d been in a fight at school and got a bloody nose or some crap. He specifically asked “Did he win? Cause if not he has another ass whooping coming when he gets home”. Yea the threat of an asswhooping from him installed in me if I ever got into a fight I better dam well make sure I did everything I could to win it.

When I was about 10 my father and his friends started hanging around a motorcycle club in the area. When I turned 11 he was a full patched member and always out on the weekends. During the week after he got out of work he would be hanging with his brothers. It was always a point of contention with my mother. After a while she just accepted him being gone all the time. Shit it actually was a quiet time around the house and ass whoopings got lesser the more he was with the club.

When I turned 13 my pops started bringing me around all the guys. It was a sight to see, all those Harleys and Triumphs was an amazing experience. My favorite part of being taken around the guys as a huge Rotty named “Rex”. It was the security for the clubhouse. Mean ass mother he was, but he was as nice as could be too me. As the year went on my pops would bring me to the clubhouse more and more. I became close friends with another members son. We are still the closest of brothers till this day. One thing that didn’t matter was race. It was a white/latino club. Being in a Latino neighborhood I was able to get the biker culture from both sides.

14 was the first time I got laid. Yes It was my birthday and my pops came up too me and told me to hit the back room. The room is where the guys held all of their meetings. I thought I was about to get my ass whooped and didn’t even know why. My pops closed the door and said make me proud. About 10 minutes later a 25 year old stripper came into the room and my world was rocked. My ol my can I still remember that day like it was yesterday. We were in the room for about 30 minutes, I blew my cherry bomb and she left the room. About 5 minutes later I heard my pops yelling for me to get out of the room now. When I came out all the guys from the club were out in the bar area yelling up a storm and giving me the high 5. Talking about becoming a man that day, and even better all those people cheering you on for popping your cherry.

maxresdefault

Another big moment for me came when my pops got me a 1977 cb750 piece of shit when I was 15. Actually it was a frame and box of parts, couldn’t even call it a scooter because shit was everywhere and not assembled at all. “Here’s your ride, everyday after your chores and school I better see you putting this thing together.” He threw me a box of tools and I had at it. Man I remember I had no dam clue what I was doing. When I would ask my pops for help he smack the shit out of me and tell me if I could read I could do it my dam self. It took me a year and a half to get that bike up and running. I didn’t have nothing but a year and a half of busted up knuckles and pride with that dam bike lol.

By time I was 16 my pops was full time club member. Got rid of his steel mill job and told my mother he was finished. Couldn’t take the ragging any longer from her. I choose to go with my pops while my brothers chose to stay with my mother. My pops got a 1 bedroom house a few miles where I grew up. He had a stripper as a new ol lady, stupid bitch was high or drunk most of the time but she was cool too me. She was one of those broads that would make you shake your head every time she talked. I especially liked her because she would bring her friends over from the strip club all the time. Yea it was a high school kids dream let me tell you.

Tune in for Part 2 on Monday of the article which will talk about Hard Times for my pops and the club

Outlaw Life: A 1%ers Take

This past week the internet has been buzzing about the shooting involving the Mongols M/C and the Iron Order M/C. The internet is abound with people on both sides talking about what went down so I’d figured I give my 2 cents on the Outlaw Life. I think I have a leg to stand on since I’ve been living it for over 20 years. All you internet tough guys try to listen up, you young guns take note and learn something. What happened in Colorado is a trend happening all over this country. You have cops who since Hollister have rode the asses of every hard working blue collar man who ever decided to get together with his brothers and party their asses off after working all fucking week to support a family.

This new modern age of Bikers don’t know shit about what it was like starting in the 60’s all the way through the 80’s and 90’s. The harassment that men before all you new jacks had to deal with to get this lifestyle where it is today was done with blood, sweat and tears. Men served hard time for what they believed in cause some faggot cop got a hair up their ass because they thought these men were all criminals. In those days if you wore a patch you were a criminal and faced Rico laws just because you were apart of the club. It never mattered that you worked a job with 12 hour shifts 6 days a week just to earn a living. You still were beneath the cocksuckers and they were gods with a badge.

If any of you New Jacks notice on any of the threads. You have alot of tough talk going on. It’s real easy to do that from a keyboard in the safety of your own home. Yes it might make you feel strong and tough. It also makes you without honor and integrity. Only a true man (Forget even being a biker) stands toe to toe against someone to defend their beliefs.

I’ve heard time and time again from some fuck tards “This is a free country and I can wear what I want on my back”. Oh really I say? Did you stupid motherfuckers earn that rag on your back? Or did you buy it on the internet like some Iron Order Fuck? Did you put in the time with being kicked, beaten, run around like some fucking mule to earn the respect and love of your brothers? Do you fucks even know what a brother is? Is it some fancy cool name to throw around? Yea this is a free country. But did you spill your blood to earn the respect for the name you carry on your back?

1%ers. Yea the AMA gave us a gift when it said “99% of bikers follow the law”. No what it should’ve of said 1% of bikers don’t give a shit and want to live life under their own terms. 1%ers today because of your cops and media label 1% clubs all criminal. That’s one thing we didn’t accomplish as 1% clubs was to push back on that notion. Every dam organization has something or someone fucked up that is going to screw it up for everyone. Shit the Moose,Elks and those old time fraternities probably have more white collar shit going on then any 1% club I know. There lies the difference don’t it? White collar and Blue Collar.

So why did it become cool to act like a “Outlaw Biker” or try to carry that image? You middle age cum guzzlers fell for all that Harley Davidson advertising bullshit. You all want to go buy your nice little t shirts and 300 riding boots and hit the road for the image more then a lifestyle. Cops caught onto this propaganda bullshit and now they want to work 40 hours busting us and the other times being us. I have nothing against anyone wanting to get out there and burning through the asphalt on two wheels. Shit not even cops. But how can you try to act something your not? How the hell do you look at yourself in the mirror? A cop has to ask themselves if they are a real man if they can’t choose who they want to be.

You want to know why Iron Order is hated in the Club World? It’s a real simple answer. They have no idea what that patch they are wearing stands for. They claim to not want territory. Why the hell wear state or city rockers? Solve the problem and slap a United States Rocker on and be done with it. Another question is how the hell can you be proud of something when you didnt earn the shit? Mail order patches for clubs might as well be like ordering from Harley. The worse thing about Iron Order is allowing Law Enforcement into it’s rank with blue collar guys. How in the world do you let a LEO into your club? Them bastards have been busting scooter tramps for ages. They have their own Blue Brotherhood, You can bet your ass they wouldn’t let you be apart of that without a badge.

lifemag1

Another big question I get is “Why do 1% or the bigger clubs try to tell everyone what to do, who can wear what?” Dumbshits this is not done to try to show our ass or say we have the bigger dick. It’s because when one of you fucking SOA idiots go out there causing hell in a bar or rally the shit comes back on the 1%er clubs. The public automatically assume you twats are apart of the 1% club and we are the ones who get the fucking hassle. You knobs bring the unwanted attention to where it don’t belong. It’s that dam simple. What I think is clubs that just throw a patch on are punks, pussies with no balls. You would think it would be easier to do shit the right way and get brought into the mix with other clubs. The parties and people you get to meet are well worth the tiny bit of respect that is needed to just introduce your club properly.

Well if we go ask for permission we will be under that clubs thumb? Your a stupid fuck and moron if you think that way. 1%ers have their own brotherhood and all the problems that come with it. They sure the fuck don’t want to sit there and play boss to some other club. They sure don’t want to be brought into any bullshit crap another club pulls that can level a RICO Charge on them. It’s a simple respect thing because the 1%ers are the ones in the area that paved the way for you to wear that cut.

You want to know what a 1%ers life is like? It’s busting your ass at a job providing for your family and afterwards hanging with your brothers in the garage, working on scoots and talking shit about broads. It’s about partying it hard on the weekends and putting thousands of miles on the scooter until the dam wheels fall off. It’s about you becoming apart of that scooter and riding in rain or snow because without that bike you don’t have that identity. It’s about living your life by your terms and not societies, that don’t mean we are criminals but free spirits. We love our families, our brothers and club. Thats really the only thing that has any meaning to us. The lifestyle we built was based on that and that alone. We are not a fucking TV show, we don’t run guns or play town sheriff. Thats what our life is made of and you better believe we will do anything to protect the history of those who came before us and pass it on to the next generation.

Remember these things next time you throw a rag on. Remember these things when you think you have the right to piss on those who made this lifestyle the way it is for you. Remember it wasn’t you that had to put in the work.

The Following is a Article Written By someone with the handle “Infidel” . He sent it to Rebel who runs the Blog Site “The Aging Rebel”. “I have written several papers on LEMCs (during my graduate work on subcultures) and the issues surrounding the acrimony expressed by 1% clubs towards the ‘posers’. As well, the seemingly real backlash against LEMC members from other cops and managers. (Begging the question, why belong to a LEMC?)

“This research and interviews took place prior to the rise of the IO and consisted of approx. 20 members of notable LEMCs including the Iron Pigs (and others). Most had nothing bad to say about the 1% clubs and made it clear their LEMCs did not have members that would be placed in positions of investigating 1% club members. Several admitted they passed files to other cops as not to bring unwanted attention to their club. None of the members were in management positions and tended to be ‘street oriented’ rather than seeking higher positions or awards from superiors.

“While little respect was shown by 1%r clubs, with a very few exceptions there seemed to be little actual conflict between the older LEMCs and the 1% clubs.

“Why is the IO despised over and above the others to the point of fight on sight?

“Is there some difference between the ‘regular’ LEMCs and the IO?”

The Aging Rebel replies:

Dear Infidel,

Good question! Let me try to respond in a way that an anthropologist or a sociologist might understand.

First, you need to understand that the Iron Order is a tethered goat, the one percenter clubs are lions and the Department of Justice is the hidden lion hunter.

The Iron Order goes out of its way to provoke confrontations with members of other clubs in order to assert the Iron Order’s dominance over them. The Iron Order is the most aggressively territorial of all the outlaw clubs and, as a simple matter of normal pride, nobody in the other clubs will tolerate being bullied or dominated.

Respect

One truism in the motorcycle club world is “Give respect, get respect.” The Iron Order’s club culture is aggressively rude.

Members of all traditional clubs live by an honor code. One aspect of that code is very Norse. Personally, I think motorcycle clubs are a manifestation of a folkway that dates at least to Beowulf ( Fifth Century Scandinavia) and may have originated around the time the Romans crossed the Rhine (about 100 BC). Vikings believed it was cowardly to flee fewer than five opponents. One percenters do not back down from fights. They “hold their mud.”  So, when someone tries to bully, dominate or disrespect them they fight – as a matter of honor.

In Denver for example, Mongols, Hells Angels, Bandidos and Sons of Silence all found a way to peacefully coexist. Only the Iron Order started a fight and then used deadly force to settle it.

Hillbilly Omerta

Another part of that honor code to which all outlaws subscribe requires that one percenters never cooperate with the prosecution. Even when it is their enemy that is being prosecuted they can only testify for the defense. The one percenter world view is that the justice system is arbitrary and unjust. One percenters handle their own business. They stand apart. They are self-sufficient. The motorcycle club world is the last gasp of the American frontier – the frontier reduced to, to use the currently fashionable academic description, an “ideology.” Modern historians usually cite John F. Kennedy’s call for a “new frontier” as an early example of this “ideology.” And that was just about the time outlaw motorcycle clubs – as something separate from, say, juvenile delinquency – became fixed in the popular imagination.

The Iron Order picks and chooses the ways in which it wants its members to present as outlaws (or new frontiersmen) and, as a tactic to assert dominance over other clubs, Iron Order members cooperate with law enforcement. So once they provoke a fight with another club, they cooperate with the police and play the victim. They also carry out assaults on members of other clubs, safe in the knowledge that their victims will not go to the police. I know of one Iron Order club officer who invited a member of another club to fight and would not stop taunting the member of the other club. So the member of the traditional club punched and knocked down the Iron Order officer. And, as the victor tried to walk away, the Iron Order officer at his feet grabbed the victor’s leg and shouted, “Stop! I am making a citizen’s arrest and lawfully detaining you!”

ATF

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives lies hidden, waiting for the one percenter clubs to retaliate. Those potential retaliations can be used as predicates in federal racketeering prosecutions. Recently in Texas, the Department of Justice unsealed a racketeering indictment against the Bandidos for declaring war on the Cossacks. Besides being factually untrue, the indictment fails to elaborate what might have provoked the Bandits to make that statement. The federal idea is simply that the Bandidos are bad and the Cossacks were their victims.

The idea in this country, in Europe and in Australia, is to achieve public relations victories that will keep the tax dollars flowing into agencies like the ATF – where the average agent makes about $200,000 a year.  In reality, motorcycle clubs are not much of a public danger and there really isn’t much need for the ATF – the fireworks and cigarette police which has assumed the role of the motorcycle club police.

The Iron Order exploits all the most popular tropes. They are haunted war heroes, alienated outsiders, rough and tough rebels, and at the same time they are law-abiding, holier than thou do-gooders.

Myth

The context of all this is that biker cops, like Jay Dobyns for example, or Ashley Charles Wyatt who goes by the stage name Charles Falco, see themselves a mythic heroes. They present themselves as mythic heroes. Publishers and producers present them as mythic heroes. And, mythic heroes need mythic villains – which is where motorcycle clubs come in. In the same way that only the Iron Order cooperates with police, only police agencies – and the Iron Order and recently the Cossacks Motorcycle Club – bother to manipulate the media.  Together, the police and the Iron Order engineer the perceived reality of what happens in these confrontations that the Iron Order provokes. The Iron Order portrays its members as blameless victims who suffer because they are heroes. Local, federal and state police agencies portray modern motorcycle clubs as the Born Losers from the first Billy Jack movie in 1967. As far as most journalists are concerned, motorcycle clubs are the Born Losers preserved in amber because that’s what the police press releases all say.

And, God forbid a reporter should actually get off his ass and investigate alternative angles to a biker story when the police press release is right there in front of him. No reporter has ever gotten fired for trusting the police as an impeccable source but many reporters have been fired for pissing off the cops and losing access to important information that only the police can provide.

All real motorcycle clubs are brotherhoods united by love. It is a considerable achievement to earn a patch from a motorcycle club. Earning a patch is a life altering event – for both better and worse. Most members are better men after they patch. The Iron Order parodies and mocks this way of being a man and members of other clubs are infuriated by this.
